April - July The Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum: Weekly Science and Art Activities Every Wednesday and Saturday hands-on arts and crafts and creative science experiments will be presented from 2-4 pm. Projects will vary each week. Learn how weather affects balloon flight and recognize different kinds of clouds! April - August Lodestar Family Astronomy Programs See "sunspots" which are giant storms on the sun larger than the Earth! LodeStar will have two solar telescopes and star map handouts for the entire family. The solar scopes will show, "real time" views of the Sun! April - August Virtual Voyages (Simulator Ride) Back by popular demand! The Dinosaur Simulator - Experience the life and times of the dinosaurs through their eyes. Virtual Voyages is a high-energy ride-film that moves you in six different directions, simulating movement through a prehistoric landscape. Simulator ride is every 15 minutes daily from 10 am-4:30 pm. Admission: Adults, Seniors and children: $4. For safety reasons, children under 4 are not allowed on Virtual Voyages. May - July Special Events in Old Town Every Saturday afternoon from 1 - 4 pm. Several locales throughout old Town will serve as performance sites. A Cultural Treasure Hunt Map will be available to indicate the times at which people can go to hear music, poetry and story telling: to enjoy a Folklorico or Flamenco dance; or to witness other multicultural performance schedules at such sites as the "Poets Corner," "La Plaza del Folklore," "El rincon Romantico" (the Romantic Corner!" and "La Casa de La Cultura." Larger performance groups such as Mariachis will be featured at the Plaza's central gazebo.
June - July Albuquerque Biological Park: Rio Grande Zoo The popular Backyard Bugs Exhibit located adjacent to the Catwalk area, showcases insects and arachnids from New Mexico and the Southwest, such as walking sticks, tarantulas, water bugs, diving beetles, scorpions, velvet ants and harmless scorpion look-alikes called vinegaroons. 765-6200.
June - July The Ghost Tours of Old Town Albuquerque Tours are conducted year round. Meet each evening at 8:30 pm next to the cannons and gazebo in the middle of the Historic Old Town Plaza. Continue on with music, dance, performances, guest speakers, craft projects and much more from 2-4 pm.
